Weekend Warrior: Summer Edition

Vol. 001 - Gear that moves with me

Hey Crew,

This is for our people who don't let the busy weeks and summer heat slow them down. You know what I'm talking about: early mornings, dusty trials, sunrise swells, and the feeling of being completely beat (in the best way). I’ve been prioritizing the balance of movements this summer - lift, run, surf, bike, sail, recover - and I wanted to share some of the gear and essentials that has made the mission smoother.

Starting off with my go-to boardshort: The Cordura Airtex Boardshort by Florence

To call these my most essential piece of summer gear might actually be underselling it. I wear them for just about everything; surf at sunrise into strength circuits in the backyard to hikes into remote spots. They’re dialed.

The fit is athletic without being restrictive, and the build is next-level: featherlight in motion, ultra-durable, and quick to dry thanks to the built-in Airtex side panels that breathe like nothing else. No chafing, no sticking, no bulk. Just clean, functional design that moves with you.

If I had to pick one piece of gear that’s defined my summer flow, it’s these shorts. Florence nailed it. Built by watermen, for watermen (and weekend warriors alike). Hands down, best boardshorts on the market right now.

Florence Airtex Hooded Long Sleeve

Keeping the Florence love going - next up is the Airtex Long Sleeve, and honestly, this (along with their boardshorts) has been one of the most functional additions to my summer kit.

It’s built for heat. Ultra-light, insanely breathable, and it dries fast whether you’re dripping from sweat or just came out of the water. This shirt just works. Whether I’m out on a run, layering up for a chilly morning surf check, or tossing it on during long travel days. It feels like you’re wearing nothing, but still gives you solid coverage when you need it.

The Airtex fabric breathes in a way most performance long sleeves don’t. No sticky, suffocated feeling when the humidity spikes,  just airflow. And my favorite part? It moves with you. No restriction, no riding up, no weird tight zones.  Exactly what I want from a performance layer.

It’s one of those pieces that ends up in your bag every time. If you’re chasing sun, heat, or movement this summer but still want to stay covered, this long sleeve’s a no-brainer.

The Perfect Bags

The Dakine Cyclone II

Let me start by saying I’ve been a backpack guy for years. Always searching for that perfect one: something I can throw gear into, that won’t get soaked, ripped, or feel like a burden when I’m on the move.

The Cyclone II 36L Dry Backpack hits every mark.

It’s fully waterproof with welded seams and a waterproof roll-top design, which means I never have to think twice about rain, surf spray, or tossing it down in the sand.

Whether I’m loading it up for a surf day, trail hike, or even just hauling gear for a weekend, it handles it all.

The 36L size is right in that sweet spot, big enough to carry everything, but not bulky or annoying when I’m moving. Padded straps, breathable back panel, and tough-as-nails material round it out.

Honestly, this thing feels bombproof in the best way.

If you're someone who moves through different environments like I do; ocean, mountains, and asphalt this is that one backpack that does it all without compromise.

As the Cyclone II being my daily driver, the  Matador GlobeRider45 is my long weekend workhorse.

I’ve tested a lot of travel bags over the years. Some too big, some too clunky, some that just couldn’t keep up. The GlobeRider hits that perfect middle ground: carry-on ready, organized, and tough enough for wherever I end up.

It opens flat like a suitcase, which makes packing super neat, and has smart internal compartments so you’re not digging through a black hole of gear and clothing. The 45L capacity somehow fits everything I need, a couple days worth of clothes, gear, tech, and even a pair of shoes without looking or feeling oversized.

Comfort-wise, it’s super legit. The straps are padded like a hiking pack but with the ability to tuck away if you’re carrying it briefcase-style or sliding it into an overhead bin. It’s the kind of bag you can travel light with but not feel limited.

If I’m heading out for a long weekend, this is the pack I’m grabbing. It makes moving simple, and that’s exactly how it should be.

Let’s talk about a sun balm that actually holds up or at least, so I’ve heard (and seen).

I’ve been following Surfing Cow Tallow since they first launched at the beginning of 2025. Small batch, grass-fed tallow-based sun protection made by people who live in the water and under the sun, the kind of brand that just gets it. The issue? Every drop sells out immediately, which is awesome for Surfing Cow but I haven’t been able to get my hands on any yet, but I’ve seen enough from the community to know this stuff is the real deal.

What draws me in is the simplicity and intention behind it: tallow, zinc, and other clean, natural ingredients that actually nourish your skin instead of just coating it. No bad chemicals, no BS. It’s reef-safe, skin-safe, and strong enough for long sessions in the elements whether that’s waves, trails, or just being out in the heat.

I’ve got an eye on the next drop and can’t wait to test it out firsthand. For now, I’m hyped to support a small brand that aligns so closely with the way PeakLife moves out here.

If you haven’t tried a Nomadix towel yet, you’re missing out on a game changer for summer adventures. These towels are designed for people who move. They are quick-drying, light weight and made from recycled materials that feel soft but durable.

I’ve brought mine to the beach, on hikes, and even for post-workout cooldowns. The pattern options are fresh and fun, they also double as a picnic blanket or yoga mat when you’re not in the water.

What I love most is how small they pack down. Slipping easily into my Dakine bag every single day without taking up space. It’s become a staple I never leave home without.

If you want a towel that keeps up with your weekend warrior lifestyle, this is it.

Summer Sweat

Magna Electrolytes have been my go-to for staying hydrated during long sessions and intense workouts this summer. Their unique triple magnesium blend supports energy, focus, and recovery, while added sodium and potassium keep hydration balanced. Plus, they come in refreshing flavors without any sugar or junk, my favorite being the Lemon Tea.

For now, Magna is my top pick  but I’m beyond excited to introduce Peak Hydration, our very own electrolyte mix designed specifically for outdoor athletes and movement enthusiasts like you.

Peak Hydration isn’t just about replacing electrolytes; it's crafted to support endurance, recovery, and mental clarity during everything from surfing and skiing to running and lifting. Using clean, high-quality ingredients like sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, natural coconut water powder, and functional additions like B vitamins and nootropics, it’s built to keep you balanced, energized, and focused in extreme conditions and environments.

Whether you’re sweating it out under the summer sun or powering through snowy mountain sessions, Peak Hydration will help you perform at your best and recover faster from these high energy “arenas”. Stay tuned this formula is designed to complement your lifestyle and the gear you trust, making every movement count.

GoPro Hero 13 - GoPros Are Back

For a minute there, it felt like everyone’s GoPro was collecting dust in a drawer. But the Hero 13? It’s proof the little action cam is officially back.

The footage is so sharp it feels like you’re watching a highlight reel straight out of a brand campaign. Horizon lock keeps every shot level, even when the board’s pitching or the trail’s rough and the stabilization is ridiculous. No more seasick surf clips or shaky bike footage.

It’s also the easiest it’s ever been to use: waterproof right out of the box, voice commands that actually work, and a battery life that finally keeps up with a full day of summer movement. Whether it’s strapped to your chest for a sunrise run, mounted to the board for a messy wave, or just in your pocket for a weekend hike, the Hero 13 makes everything look epic.

GoPros are back. And they’re better than you remember.

Summer might be winding down, but the adventures are just getting started. Don’t forget to check out the gear featured above—it’s the stuff I actually use and love for making the most of every weekend.
